Well, I did say I had some exciting news to share didn’t it??
The kind peeps over at Dilmah Australia have invited Sweet Gracie Candles to their ‘Charitea’ Real High Tea event being held 12th September at the Observatory Hotel (Which seems to have morphed into The Langham!).
Its safe to say I am UBER excited about this invitation! Any excuse to put a frock and some heels on and go to what I am sure will be a delightful event. I actually haven’t ever been to a high tea – insane I know, for someone obsessed with teacups. I did toss the idea up for my hens night – but being the low-maintenance kind of gal, I opted for something where people could casually drop in as they pleased.
The event is being hosted by celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita of Flying Fish and the actual founder of Dilmah (wow!!) Merrill J. Fernando & son Dilhan will be there discussing their wonderful work assisting children and women from underprivileged communities in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
They’ll also be talking about the Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge – if you haven’t already heard about this, go check it out, there are prizes to be won!! And it sounds like a heap of fun, you just need to think up a unique & original recipe for a cocktail, mocktail or dish incorporating Dilmah tea somehow. Think Earl Grey cupcakes, Green Tea sorbet, or Chamomile teacake. If you want to enter, here’s what you need to do. It really does sound fun and a great chance to get inventive, I might have to enter!
The other reason I am so excited about this invitation is that there may be FAMOUS people there! Weeheee! I am really hoping my favourite food blogger Not Quite Nigella will be there. I’ll keep you posted and intend to give you the full run-down of this event in all its fabulousness – and I have decided I will be drinking champagne at some stage! Till then my lovelies x
